Latest ex post facto FPS is about blaring demons in hell, just for a change
Ex post facto-styled first-person shooters are definitely a thing good now, with stuff like Ion Hysteria and Dusk making way for droves of similar games. I'm not complaining. Nor am I complaining that the latest retro Federal Protective Service to be announced, Dreaded Templar, has one of the well-nig hilariously perfunctory settings you could dream up for a shooting gimpy.
"You are a Dire Templar WHO entered Hell seeking revenge," reads the trailer description. "Only in decree to get wise, you have to fight your direction through the dark realm!" Hell yeah! Just parting it at that, would you please?
The game is developed by T19 Games, and used to be known as Sin James Henry Leigh Hunt, for which there is still a present on Itchiness. Horrendous Templar is definitely a better name, though IT does wend rather to a fault closely into lore-armorial bearing territory. What is a apprehensiveness templar? Hopefully the game will waste nobelium clock time explaining.
As the trailer above demonstrates, the art style sits unwaveringly in the Palpitate engine custom, and to boot to the usual set out of firepower you can also wield a katana. There are weapon system skills to unlock, dashing and bullet clock time, so it definitely adds some flavour to the format, while staying very typical to the atmosphere of the 1990s.
The game will launch into Archeozoic Access this fall (spring in Australia) and is expected to launch into 1.0 in 2022. Here's the Steam page if you want to keep an eye happening it. In the meantime, if you're craving a ye olde styled FPS you could check down Twilight, or Ion Erinyes, or Prodeus, or Amid Evil.
